GO CAPS Gives Students Real-World Remanufacturing Experience
Currently in its first year, the GO CAPS (Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Professional Studies) Engineering & Manufacturing strand has over 40 high school juniors and seniors, representing 11 school districts, gaining hands-on learning experiences through partnerships with local business partners. Students meet each day at Springfield Remanufacturing Corporation (SRC) as a base for partnering with local businesses for projects, tours of facilities, and developing awareness for the many career paths available in remanufacturing, manufacturing and engineering. Through this program students are given the chance to interact with engineers and manufacturers to solve complex problems, apply lean manufacturing processes, create value for customers and strive for efficiency in production.
After only a month in the program, one student shared “My experience from this program so far has opened my eyes to what is really necessary to succeed in the business world.”
Jack Stack, Founder, President and CEO of SRC Holdings, is also co-founder of RIC and serves on the Executive Committee.
